Green energy solutions for homes and business

McVickers entered the renewables market in 2011 as it was a natural extension to the other services already provided at the time. We have installed Solar PV in the commercial sector for private clients wanting to upgrade their premises and make savings on electricity and also for those clients wishing to build new premises and requiring a renewable element to meet specific regulations. It has also brought us back into the private domestic market working closely with homeowners to gain the most from their property.

Hesketh House PV Installation

McVickers was awarded the contract to install a 69.25 kWp solar PV system for The Prescription Pricing Authority at their offices in Fleetwood. Working with Sine Consulting we developed the original performance specification to design an installation that met the client’s requirements and budget.
A total of 277 Caymax Solar 250W modules were mounted to the roof of the building utilising as much of the available roof space as possible. The panels were fixed to a Bigfoot, ballasted mounting frame and the system connected to 4 SMA 17000TL inverters.
A full structural survey of the roof was carried out as part the project to ensure that the ballasted mounting frames could be used safely.
This installation incorporated Fireman switches to ensure enhanced levels of safety for users and the fire department, in the event of an emergency.
The building remained live for the duration of the project and works were planned to minimise disruption, any isolations were generally arranged out of hours. On completion of the installation the commission of the system was witnessed by the local DNO.
The solar PV is expected to generate 57,824 kWh of electricity and save 16.36 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.
