FAQs

What is a Safe Isolation Provider (SIP)?

Safe Isolation Provider (SIP) is an additional role available to existing accredited Meter Operator Agents (MOAs) to allow them to accept instructions to undertake a limited set of activities at the request of the premise owners without the need to use the Registered Suppliers’ MOAs.

Why Do I Need a Safe Isolator Switch?

A safe isolator switch ensures that any electrical work on your property can be carried out safely, preventing accidental contact with live electrical parts and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
It ensures compliance with safety regulations and adheres to Distribution Network Operator (DNO) restrictions, eliminating the need for DNO intervention during maintenance or upgrades.

Can any Electrician Install a Safe Isolator Switch?

No, only registered Safe Isolation Providers (SIPs) can legally install safe isolator switches.
While some electricians or companies may attempt installation, this is highly discouraged as it goes against safety regulations and is dangerous without the proper certifications and accreditations.

What Properties can have an Isolator Switches Installed?

Isolator switches can be installed for both residential and commercial properties, including those managed by local authorities, housing associations, and private landlords.
